Monkeyraters ("we", "our", or "us") is a non-partisan digital platform that collects and curates publicly available information about politicians, their promises, and controversies. Our goal is to foster transparency and informed civic participation.

This platform is operated pursuant to Article 17 of the Constitution of Nepal, in the lawful exercise of the right to freedom of opinion and expression, subject to reasonable restrictions prescribed by law to safeguard national sovereignty, public order, and social harmony.

By using Monkeyraters, you agree to the terms described in this Privacy Policy.

Monkeyraters complies with the following laws and international principles:

• Article 17 – Constitution of Nepal (2015): Right to freedom of opinion and expression.
• Privacy Act 2075 (2018), Nepal
• Electronic Transaction Act 2063 (2008), Nepal
• GDPR: Applied for users in the EU and aligning with global standards.
• International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (Article 19): Supporting free expression and the right to information.

We operate transparently within these legal boundaries to promote responsible and open political discourse.

The term "Monkey" in Monkeyraters is a creative and symbolic reference to the developers and creators of this platform. It reflects agility, transparency, and curiosity — values central to the app's mission. It is not a derogatory label for any individual or public figure and is protected under the rights to creative expression.

Monkeyraters collects minimal data:

• Email Address Only (optional): Used for login, feedback, or update subscriptions.
• Anonymous Usage: All users interact anonymously. No IP addresses, names, or identifiers are stored.
• No Identity Disclosure: We do not link any data to personal identity and never disclose user details publicly or privately.

Monkeyraters allows civic participation through:

• Awards
• Discussions
• Leaderboard Ratings

Leaderboard and Rating System

Politicians are rated on a 5-star system based on five categories:

• Governance and Performance
• Ethics and Integrity
• Public Engagement
• Vision and Leadership
• Public Perception

Performance scores are calculated using a mix of community ratings and verified promises fulfilled by the politician.

We use email (if provided) only to:

• Communicate important updates or moderation notices
• Address reported misinformation
• Improve the platform's usability and features

We never sell or share any user information with third parties.

Monkeyraters aggregates information from credible public sources including:

• Government documents
• Press releases
• Reputed media outlets
• Official statements

Users can report inaccurate content, which will be reviewed and updated transparently.

We are committed to promoting freedom of opinion and expression as protected under Nepali and international law. However, the platform moderates content that:

• Promotes hate speech, violence, or misinformation
• Violates national sovereignty, public order, or social harmony

Monkeyraters does not tolerate content that crosses these boundaries.

We apply modern data protection and security practices:

• Encrypted storage of email (if provided)
• No personal tracking
• Secure backend architecture
• Anonymous participation by default

Monkeyraters is intended for users aged 16 years and above. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Monkeyraters uses third-party images only for public interest, educational, journalistic, and research purposes under the principle of fair use. These include:

• Images from credible sources used under fair use doctrines
